PHD Ghana, an affiliate of Omnicom Media Group’s PHD Worldwide network of media agencies, is taking its longstanding partnership with Ashesi University a step further its focus on Ashesi’s student talent pool through its support for the University’s career fairs, student mentorship, summer internship programmes, national service placements and full time employment opportunities for its graduates.
Ashesi’s 2018 career fair provided yet another opportunity for PHD Ghana to support as a silver sponsor with its CEO, Bright Ladzekpo, serving as a judge during the fair’s Elevator pitch, and the Most Enterprising Business pitch competitions designed to test and enhance students’ skills in public speaking, personal grooming and business etiquette.
At the end of the fair, PHD Ghana souvenirs including the agency’s latest thought leadership book, ‘Merge – The closing gap between technology and us’, were presented to winners of the two competitions.
Winner of the elevator pitch, Jean Quarcoopome said “The Elevator Pitch competition seemed, to me, more testing because I was only given 60 seconds to give persuasive speech to spark in who I am and what I am about. So I invested the bulk of my efforts preparing for that competition. Essentially I thought of one of my best, most employable skills in my skill set, which is creativity and artistry, connected that skill to my future career in Brand Management.”
“One of the many ways that Ashesi tries to bridge the gap between industry and academia,” said Abigail Welbeck, Associate Director of Career Services. “Not only do we want to provide knowledge for the students in the classrooms but also we want to provide them with the experiences and skill sets that they need to become good candidates in the work place” she said.
PHD Ghana is currently the fastest growing media agency in Ghana, according to the world’s leading research Company Evaluating the Media Agency Industry, RECMA. The agency has provided opportunities for students and graduates of African descent from colleges and universities in Ghana and UK to gain work experience in Ghana and learn from its experienced and dynamic team through summer internships, national service postings and employment as part of its talent development programme.
Its summer internship programme which runs for 6 to 8weeks has equipped students from a diverse range of the course backgrounds, including computer science, management information systems and marketing.
“We have always tapped Ashesi’s young talent right from the start of our operations in Ghana and are looking to extend this to our offices in Nigeria, Kenya, Cote D’Ivoire and South Africa in the years ahead as Ashesi’s student diversity continues to grow across the African continent.” said Bright Ladzekpo, PHD Ghana CEO.
PHD Ghana has access to a global live collaborative communications planning operating system, sophisticated research resources and advanced business intelligence tools to deliver the very best strategic expertise.
