Accra, April 3, GNA - Panofi Company Limited, a joint Ghana-Korea fishing company, on Monday presented one tonne of tuna, worth 8.2 million cedis and a cheque of 10 million cedis to the Mother and Child Development Foundation.

Mr Nicholas K. Okyere, Managing Director of the Company, said the donation formed part of the Company's social responsibility to support needy children.

"We at Panofi believe that the growth and development of children, irrespective of their social background, should be a matter of concern to all well meaning organisations, for children are, and shall remain the future of this country", he said.

Mr Okyere said the Company, which had been in existence for four years, exported 80 per cent of its fish landings, and sold 20 per cent on the local market and had created job opportunities for the growth of the economy.

Mrs Theresa Kufuor, First Lady and Founder of the Foundation, who received the donation, commended the Company for their continuous support for the upkeep of needy children.
