Management of ARB Apex Bank has advised Ghanaians not to be influenced by unrealistic interest rates offered by some financial institutions in the society.
Mr George Odei Annor, Western Regional Manager of the ARB Apex Bank Limited, said it is beneficial to save with credible banks which offer reasonable interest rates than to dump huge sums to unfamiliar banks for unrealistic rates.
Mr Annor said this at the commissioning of a new building to house the Ahantaman Rural Bank at Kojokrom, a marketing centre in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis of the Western Region.
He expressed the determination of the Apex Bank to ensure that rural banks operate creditably to satisfy the desired needs of customers.
Mr Benjamin Afful Eshun, Chief Executive Officer of the Ahantaman Rural Bank, said the Bank has introduced various innovations into their operation to attract customers and urged them to take advantage and save with the bank which would grant them loans to meet their needs.
He said loans are in place for businesses, marriage, vacation, invalidity and emergencies among others.
He said Ahantaman Bank which has operated in the country for almost 31 years with its head quarters at Agona Nkwanta in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region has four branches in the metropolis.
Mr Eshun said management intends to bring banking services to the doorsteps of customers, especially traders for easy accessibility to banking services hence the establishment of the bank in the centre of the town.
Mr Vincent Blaichie Essien, Board Chairman of the Bank, admonished Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of savings towards improving of their lives.
Madam Esi Fosuwaa, 65 year old yam seller and customer of the Bank, urged the public to save with reputable banks because she is a beneficiary of their loans which has helped her cater for all her five children to the tertiary level.
