The Petroleum Commission (PC) has given a strong indication that the Petroleum Commission Act, enacted in May, 2012, will be enforced to the letter in order to ensure security and safety in the oil sector.

Speaking to TV3 in an interview on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 on the sidelines of a forum to outline measures to fight common challenges in the sector, Captain Emmanuel Ayensu Kwafo, the Director of Naval Training, noted that the Act has been glossed over because not enough training has been given law-enforcers.

“When we go out there and see anyone offending those laws then we will be in a position to enforce those,” he said. “So with such a regulation I am looking at a law to combat the broad range of offences that could threaten the survival of the oil industry.”

A member of the Petroleum Commission, C. K. James, assured that a wide spectrum of activities has been carried out to ensure maximum safety in the sector.

“We are assuring that all activities undertaken on the rig are conducted in a safe manner that will not bring about injuries, equipment damage to anybody and to protect the investment.”
