Kadjebi, Nov. 15, GNA-A pilot fruits garden project has taken-off in four schools in the Kadjebi district, aimed at inculcating the habit of the consumption of fruits daily by children. The schools are, Ahamansu Roman Catholic Junior High School (JHS), Ahamansu Evangelical Presbyterian JHS, Dapaa L/A JHS and Dodi-Papase Mary Teresa's JHS.
Mr Evans Anipa, project coordinator who disclosed this to the GNA said the Atta Foundation, a non-governmental organization resulting from the twining of the Kadjebi district with Alkamade Municipality in Sister-Cities relations was funding the project.
He said each school was assisted to plant 62 seedling of citrus, 20 seedlings of mango, and 5,000 pineapple suckers amounting to 3,000 Ghana cedis in land preparation and others expenditure.
Mr Anipa said the Assembly embraced the concept as health experts indicated that daily fruit intake took away a child from the hospital and helps in the development of the intelligent quotient of children. He indicated that the project would be replicated throughout the district, in the course of time. 15 Nov. 07
