Workers of Plant Pool Company Limited, a state-owned construction firm, have given the government up till the end of the month to intervene and save the company from collapse or they will take to the streets.
The local workers? union say the company has for the past two years been deteriorating with most of its equipment being sold off.
The company, which is 80 percent government owned and 20 percent for the Social Security and National Insurance Trust SSNIT was established over 20 years to undertake construction, works in the country.
It is noted for the construction of roads including the Sakumono Estates Roads, Aboadze Thermal Plant Estate-Abor road and the Aboso Junction-Bogoso Road.
A member of the local workers union, Frank Kyere Nkansah told JoyNews that due to the current state of the company salaries have not been paid for the past eight months.
Most of the benefits entitled to workers have also not been paid because of the company?s precarious condition.
Mr. Nkansah told JoyNews that they have taken a number of measures to salvage the company from its predicament but have all not yielded the results they need.
?We have been to the NPP headquarters, Osafo Marfo (Finance Minister) is away of our predicament, and a lot of agencies but we have still not receive any support so far. We are dying slowly from neglect?, he said.
He told JoyNews that should government refuse to come to their aid they would advice themselves.
