EXHIBITORS at the 9th International Trade Fair in Accra on Sunday, tasted one of the worst intermittent power cut offs, as visitors in jubilant mood in the wake of the independence celebrations, thronged the fair for either window or active shopping.
Exhibitors who this paper spoke to say they were very surprised at the event because they had been hoping for high patronage during that period.
They told The Chronicle that patronage had been slow since the fair took off. This years' trade exhibition was planned in such a way that it coincided with the 47th Independence Day Celebrations.
But their expectations were shattered when nine power interruptions hit the fair on Sunday to the amazement of both exhibitors and visitors. As a result of this, thieves also had a field day.
Meanwhile, at the opening of the fair, Ms Esther Ofori, the chief executive officer of the Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited assured exhibitors of frequent power supply.
In the light of this unfortunate event, a source close to this paper hinted that some exhibitors had called on the organizers of the fair for extension of the period in order to recover the losses of the previous day.
