Accra, Feb. 3, GNA - More than 500 local and foreign companies would participate in this year's INDUTECH Exhibition where Information, Communication and Technology would take the centre stage.

Slated to take place from March 3 2005 to March 14 2005, the exhibition would offer opportunities to participating ICT companies to demonstrate their capabilities as a means of supporting and driving industrial development in Ghana.

As a result, the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), the official organiser of INDUTECH, has chosen the theme: "Transforming Ghana's Industrial Sector Through Information and Communication Technology."

Briefing the press on preparations at a soiree on Wednesday, Nana Akuamoa Boateng III, National Planning Committee Chairman, reinforced the position that Ghana's industry could not fully develop and achieve the expected impact when ICT was detached from it.

He said preparations were far advanced and that 300 local and 62 foreign companies had so far confirmed their participation.

Countries participating include, Thailand, Mauritius, South Africa, India, China, Turkey, Libya, Brazil, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Benin, Niger and Senegal.

A National INDUTECH Awards Night would be held at the State House to honour companies and individuals whose performance in the industrial sector have impacted positively on the economy.
