Accra, Nov. 9, GNA - President John Evans Atta Mills has appointed 15 persons to serve as Government Appointees on the Boards of some mining related companies operating in the country.
A statement from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources in Accra on Tuesday said the appointments were contained in a letter dated October 27, 2010 and signed by the Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Mr James Bebaako-Mensah.
It said as a matter of policy, the government of Ghana which had 10 per cent stake in all mining companies in the country appointed one Board Member to oversee its interest in these companies.
Those appointed by the president are:
1. Central African Gold Ghana Ltd. (Former AngloGold Ashanti-Bibiani Ltd.) - Mr Kwame Darko
2. Chirano Gold Mines Limited - Captain Buta
3. Ghacem Limited - Mr Solomon Nkansa
4. Ghana Bauxite Company Ltd. - Mr Stephen Kofi Owulaku
5. Ghana Manganese Company - Mr John Kweku Akakpo
6. Keegan Resources Ghana Limited - Mr J.E. Ackah
7. Newmont Ghana Gold Limited - Mrs Cecilia Johnson
8. Nkroful Mining Limited - Mr Joseph R.D. Kobinah
9. Owere Mines Limited - Mr Ampofo Manu
10. Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited - Dr Kwabena Donkor
11. Savana Cement Company - Mr Sylvester Azantilow
12. Xtra Gold Mining Limited - Justice Adjei
