Accra, Sept. 27, GNA - Mr Asare Akuffo, Managing Director of HFC Bank, has been elected as the new President of the Governing Council of the Private Enterprise Foundation (PEF).
The Governing Council is the highest decision making body of the Foundation, which comprises representatives of major corporate bodies in the country. Its deliberations are geared towards ensuring the highest quality standards in the business and financial sectors. Members of the foundation include the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ghana Employers Association, Federations of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters, Association of Ghana Industries, Ghana Association of Bankers (GAB) and the Ghana Chamber of Mines. Mr Akuffo represents the GAB on the council and brings to his new portfolio wealth of experience in real estate financing, insurance and mortgage policy implementation.
A released issued by PEF at the weekend said Mr. Asare Akuffo was a key member of the pioneer management team that successfully implemented the housing finance component of the International Development Association that financed Urban II Project.
He also led the team that prepared the HFC Bank for the commencement of universal banking business. Before joining HFC Bank (formerly Home Finance Company Limited), he was an Investment Manager at Social Security and National Insurance Trust. He is a graduate of the University of Ghana Business School and a Chartered Accountant by profession. The Council also elected Ms Joyce Rosalind Aryee as the new Vice President of PEF.
Ms. Aryee who is widely recognized for her immense contribution towards the growth of the mining sector is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines. She is a Senior Mentor for the African Leadership Initiative, a leadership formation programme with the vision to develop the next generation of value-based and community leaders of Africa. Ms. Aryee is also the Chairperson of the Global Compact Local Network in Ghana and serves on the Energy Foundation Board. 27 Sept. 09
