Private sector to get support from PEF

Effective Tuesday, April 2, 2013, the Private Enterprises Foundation (PEF) will collate internet-based statistical data to aid advocacy for private enterprises in the country.

PEF will also conduct impact analysis on government statutes and policies for private sector businesses in Ghana. In an interview with TV3’s Odelia Ofori, Nana Osei-Bonsu, the Director General of PEF, noted his outfit, which was restructured through the help of BUSAC Funds, has attracted interest from Ghana’s private sector businesses.

“There is an attractive interest in private sector recreation as to the services we are going to provide to members in the future and how we are going to impact the business of consuming members of the member associations,” he said.

He disclosed that the hard work put up in getting businesses buy into the mission of the Foundation has led to the coming on board of firms in the telecommunications sector and insurance sector.

“Oil marketing companies and LPG operators have also joined. We have two applications also pending,” he added. He said the Foundation since its establishment “has been instrumental in looking at various avenues including how GET Fund was established”.

PEF has gained national prominence as the private sector advocate by participating in key national advisory, policy planning, policy formulation, and forming monitoring committees regarding government programmes.
