Private University Students are asking government to reduce the 25 percent corporate tax for tertiary institutions in the country.
They also want government to make GETFund accessible to students from private universities.
President of the Private University Students Association, Mohammed Sokparu, who addressed a news conference in Accra said public universities are also milking private ones because of affiliation.
“There are 68 private universities in this country that have over 30 percent of students...it is therefore prudent that our leaders create the atmosphere for the law to enforce equal rights to every citizenry.
“Government must also provide GETfund support for all students, whether they attend public or private universities," Sokparu said Tuesday.
He added: “We are of the view that the tax waiver given to private sector industries and the removal of corporate tax from raw materials and farming tools in the 2015 budget can be applied to private universities as well.”
