Proposed pineapple factory to start processing

Ekumfi-Essueshyia (C/R), May 15, GNA - The proposed pineapple-processing factory to serve pineapple growers in the Ekumfi Traditional Area in the Central Region would soon take-off at Ekumfi-Essueshyia.

At an executive meeting at Essueshyia on Friday, Nana Arkoansah, chief of Ekumfi-Kokodo and chairman of the Interim Directors of the Ekumfiman Pineapple Processing Company, said the executives of the company have been able to secure operational certificate for the company. He assured pineapple growers in the area, who registered with the company that with the acquisition of the certificate, the company would soon start operation.

They should therefore rally firmly behind the leaders of the company by educating more pineapple farmers in their respective towns and villages to register with the company. Mr Michael Kumi Frimpong, Supervising Manager of Ekumfiman Rural Bank, urged members of the Ekumfi Pineapple Growers Association, who formed the company, to buy more shares to support the operations of the company. He appealed to Ekumfi citizens resident in the cities and other big towns to patronize the bank to enable it make meaningful contribution to the socio-economic development of the area.
