MTN Ghana has urged its customers to dismiss reports that the company has lost data on its QWIKLOAN service following the fibre cut last week.
A message from the telecom giant said: “MTN wishes to inform its loyal customers to debunk rumours about loss of data on its QWIKLOAN services.
“Data on QWIKLOAN are shared securely and under no circumstance will an undersea Fibre cut affect data storage for the services. This information is not true and should be disregarded.”
Last week, MTN was hit with fibre cable cut which resulted in an interruption of its services.
“This is as a result of a double undersea fibre optic cable cut in Europe. We are working with our international providers to restore connectivity as quickly as possible.
“This situation is affecting all operators and customers in the West Africa region due to cut on the West Africa Cable System (WACS).The West Africa Cable system is an ultra-high capacity fibre optic submarine cable which links Europe, West Africa and South Africa connecting 14 countries over two continents.”
