RE: Omanehene orders BGL to stop operations

Dear Sir,

I write as the Public Relations Officer of Bogoso Gold Limited,with reference to the above mentioned story which was placed on your site on the 10th of July,2005.

The story which was filed from Ghana News Agency contained a lot of inaccuracies which has caused some problems for our company and I believe the Omanhene of the Wassa Fiase Traditional Area, Osagyefo Kwamina Enimil.

Here then are the facts.

The meeting was convened on a Friday 8th July 2005 and not Sunday 10th of July.

In his remarks to close the meeting, Osagyefo Kwamina Enimil did acknowledge that, since he and his Sub-Chiefs did not have the requisite technical knowledge to deal with the issues raised, he would invited the regulatory bodies such as the Enviromental Protection Agency,Minerals Commission,Mines Department, to form a committee to investigate the substantive issues and come out with a report within two weeks.

He therefore entreated Bogoso Gold continue with its normal operations but not to expand further south to the areas which was the source of discomfort to the people of Prestea. This he noted will help restore peace in the area whilst the committee investigates the issues.

At no point in time of the meeting did the Omanhene direct that BGL SHOULD STOP OPERATIONS AT PRESTEA.

This is a very erroneous picture that has been painted by the media and we would require that the correction is made.

Our operations in Prestea includes the Underground to which we have committed over 10 million dollars to date in maintaining the mine.

Our latest commitment is the purchase of a $200,000 six tonne pump which will be placed at Level 17,to aid the pumping of water from Levels 30 and 35.

This will be the first time in 20 years that Levels 30 to 35 will be made accessible.
