RackAfrica, a leading data centre company for Ghana, in partnership with TechXact has organized for the first time IDCA (International Data Centre Authority) datacentre certification-training program at Holiday Inn, Accra.

CEO of RackAfrica, Rajnish Sharma, explained the need of high-level datacentre training program in Ghana. He said that Ghana’s IT economy is booming and corporates requires highly skilled IT professionals certified in Data Centre program. All big companies have large online & offline IT resources to manage. They require highly qualified seniors to manage those mission-critical IT resources.

These courses are meant to help Ghanaian IT professionals to uplift their knowledge and skills to manage or build a world-class datacentre. Their courses will indirectly help these professionals to get job with higher pay scale within Ghana and internationally.

Rajnish Sharma also explained the need of outsourcing critical IT services to a data centre like RackAfrica. Even if ICT is your core business, setting up your own data center or computer room is very expensive proposition both in terms of money, time and deployment of human resources.

Apart from the high capital costs, there are high day-to-day management costs involved. Adding new services or upgrading to the latest technology is also not feasible on day-to-day basis. In this scenario, it makes sense to outsource critical services to RackAfrica, which is the only carrier-neutral data centre in Ghana.

RackAfrica provides collocations, virtual servers, online backup, offline tape storage, data security and disaster recovery services. We invested more than $2m to setup state-of-the-art facility in Accra in 2011.

The infrastructure consists of multiple redundant clean power, physical and network data security, redundant precision cooling, multiple Internet connections, 24x7 monitoring, and full technical support. The facility is connected with all cable operators, all Telco's and leading ISP's.

This investments in world-class tier 4 Data Centre allows our customers to enjoy state-of-the-art security and business continuity without the need to make the high investments in time, money and human resources and maintain the associated infrastructural complexities of a Data Centre.
