‘Reroy Cables achievements depend on quality service’

Mrs Kate Quartey-Papafio, Chief Executive Officer of Reroy Cables Limited, a subsidiary of Reroy Group, has re-affirmed the company’s commitment to achieve high standards in quality product and service delivery.

“Our products are produced according to the standards of the International Electro Technical Commission and enforced by the Ghana Standards Authority and approved by the Energy Commission of Ghana,” she said.

Mrs Quartey-Papafio, also the Chairperson of Reroy Group, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said every developing country needed power to thrive to a new level.

She said the country needed people who can envisage the future as to the direction of the energy sector to address the power crisis in the country.

“We need to have a strategic plan, say in the next five years, where are we going as a country and how are we going to get there as far as the energy sector is concerned,” she said.

Mrs Quartey-Papafio said the country was endowed with natural resources like bauxite and that it was time stakeholders in the energy sector put synergies together to fine-tune how best to refine these raw materials for effective utilisation.

“This will help mitigate the power crisis the country is faced with,” she said.

She said the company had manufactured an improved fire resistant cable onto the Ghanaian market with the state-of-the-art machines to address the recent fire outbreaks in the country.

Mrs Quartey-Papafio said over the years, the outfit had been importing materials such as copper and aluminium and the bottlenecks encountered suggested that there was the need for integration of the supply chain and learn from the experiences of countries like Dubai.

She was very optimistic that there is hope for the future if the right structures were put in place, especially with effective strategic planning.

Mrs Quartey-Papafio outlined plans of establishing Ghana’s Energy Sector Manufacturer’s Association that would bring together stakeholders in the energy industry to chart the way forward in improving the sector.

She said the company had completed the construction of a new manufacturing plant, making it the largest Electrical Cables Manufacturing Plant in the country producing predominantly for the international and domestic markets.

“We aim to become a global recognised brand name, capitalising on our expertise in the domestic and sub-Sahara African Market and would continue to improve on our quality management system to guarantee the delivery of quality products and ensure safety of customers”.

She said Reroy Group was strategically positioned to deliver local content for the cable industry and focus on giving priority to Ghanaian cable manufacturers to compete effectively with foreign counterparts.

“To be able to compete effectively with our foreign counterparts, the local cable manufacturers need reliable and affordable electricity supply to enable them to produce at optimal levels. We require good roads, water supply and tax incentives to be able to produce and sell at affordable prices,” she said.
