Bolgatanga, Oct. 14, GNA - Market women and the general public in Bolgatanga have been advised to save with the rural banks to enable them to take loans to expand their businesses. They were also urged to form groups so that group members would guarantee for each other to qualify them for loans. Mr Hardi Mohammed, Project Officer of Builsa Community Bank said this during a road show organized by Stracom Consultancy and sponsored by Support Programme for Enterprise Empowerment at the weekend. It was meant to educate the public and business persons on the importance of savings, the advantage to take loans from rural banks, the need to sell or buy only wholesome goods and consumers' right to reject expired or sub-standard goods.
Mr Mohammed spelt out the different types of savings the people could patronize and the advantages it would give to them. He however said they would be expected to pay back the loans within a specific time to enable them and others to continue to benefit adding that those who had taken loans from the banks must pay back on time. Mr Tony Klu, Communications Officer of Stracom, advised rural banks to get closer to their clients to enable them to interact freely to enhance their mutual benefits.
Drama and puppets were used to spread the message during the programme which took place at the Bolgatanga market. Similar programmes would be held in Navrongo and Sandema. 14 Oct. 08
