A South African business delegation led by the South African Ambassador to Ghana, Lulu Xingwana has paid a visit to the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority to explore investment opportunities at the port.
Discussions were centred on assistance for GPHA in the rail sector and also in providing a truck park for Tema.
The delegation was received by the Director of Tema Port, Jacob Adokor, General Manager, Administration, Kumi Adjei-Sam and other managers of the port authority The South African Ambassador to Ghana, Lulu Xingwana said the team intend to partner with the port in trade development projects so that Ghana becomes the hub of the ECOWAS region in the shipping and the cargo industries.
“The port is going to be a very important facility in the continent especially here in the ECOWAS region. We believe it will be able to park big ships and bring in huge cargo and will not only work here in Ghana, service Ghanaians, it will also be able to service the entire West African Region”
The Director of Tema Port, Jacob Adorkor averred that the delegation was impressed because of the efficiency that had been injected in the port processes.
He said the doors of the ports are opened to investments, adding that the ports of Ghana are the safest ports and the best automated ports in West African sub region.
“Ghana is a very good safe haven for investments, our ports are actually the best place to do business in Ghana now. Our ports have opened its doors to international community, they are the safest ports, the best automated ports in West Africa where efficiency is seen as the model for other ports to copy. So we want to appeal to all investors that they should try us and then they’ll see best out of Ghana”
