Wilsad Support Limited (WSL) a multimedia media company with a nationwide Digital TV Multiplexer Authorisation has secured financial support from Ghana Growth Fund Company (GGFC) - a private equity company, to develop and expand its pioneering digital TV Infrastructure and Services nationwide and even beyond to neighbouring West African Countries.
With the GGFC support, WSL is upgrading to DVB-T2 standard in line with the National Communication Authority preferred standard before end of the year.
The good news to existing loyal Skyy Digital customers is that they would have an option to continue enjoying the existing service of ten TV Channels in Accra Tema, Koforidua, Kumasi, Cape Coast and Sekondi, Takoradi for several months or upgrade by acquiring enhanced T2 Receivers to enjoy more TV Channels and FM Audio Channels.
According to Mr. Wilson Arthur, the Chief Executive Officer of WSL, the new enhanced service will be rebranded as First Digital (in recognition of its pioneering role in digital TV in Ghana) and to match the new superior quality TV Service it would be serving in few weeks from now.
When contacted, the Managing Director of GGFC - Kwame Asomaning confirmed that his company is committed to providing financing for the digital Television nationwide expansion project so Ghana can beat the June 2015 Global Digital migration deadline.
According to Mr Asomaning, it is the core value of GGFC to provide financial solutions to local businesses in Ghana and other West African Countries to empower them to provide world standard services and to withstand international competition.
This new investment is enhancing the capacity of WSL to provide Multiplexer Services to strategic Local and International Television and Radio Content Companies to deliver a bouquet of Media Service unparalleled in Ghana. "We will truly become 'First' in Ghana." said Mr. Arthur. In few weeks’ time, First Digital will offer 25 TV channels plus a number of radio stations to its subscribers on T2. First Digital bouquet will be doubled to 50 TV channels in due course.
Mr Arthur disclosed that the dividends of this heavy investment in First Digital will be enjoyed by customers through the quality of TV signal, content value and stability of service. He assured viewers that the high value Skyy Digital channels including Channel D which is providing pioneering coverage of proceedings in Parliament (to be extended to cover some District Assemblies); Planet kids channel; Cinimax African Movies Channel, Fiesta Ghanaian Music videos Channel, International News; Local news and entertainment will be retained.
Wilsad is in negotiation with a banking company to provide a national distribution network to make it easier for people to acquire First Digital boxes nationwide and pay monthly subscription fees with ease.
