Small and Medium Enterprises operating in the oil and gas sector in the Western Region have been given training on the compliance of the laws and regulations framework covering the sector.

The training, which was organised by Pyxera Global, with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), would enable the participants to understand the legal framework governing the oil and gas sector and fully participate in it.

Mr. Daniel Braneman, the programmes manager of Pyxera Global, said SMEs in the sector needed to be trained with compliance matters inherently of interest and value to the oil and gas.

Pyxera Global, according to him, was running a five-year “Supply Chain Development (SCD) Program” in Ghana to build local capacity in the oil and gas sector.

Mr. Braneman said the workshop was being organised by “Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah” firm, a renowned law firm in the country, to ensure that businesses became more responsible in legal and commercial transaction activities, matters, and decisions for their respective companies.

Mr. Abraham Agbozo, a lawyer with the law firm, who facilitated the training, said more jobs would be created and local businesses would grow if SMEs participated in the oil and gas sector.
