The Suame Magazine Industrial Development Organisation (SMIDO) will on Thursday September 6, launch the Ashanti Regional Cluster Policy barometer in Kumasi. The document is a research publication on the economic and industrial development potential of the Suame industrial cluster in Kumasi.

The publication is entitled: “Building Prospects for Prosperity: The Economic Fate of Kumasi and Ashanti, the SMIDO-Otumfuo Industrial Centre”.

It brings to the fore socio-economic and industrial challenges as well as industrial and economic projects, which can be developed and adopted to make the Suame cluster serve as a catalyst for investment and economic growth in the Ashanti Region.

The document also aims at incorporating the research issues as a sensitization material to mobilize regional leadership for the adoption of the project as a regional economic revival initiative.

Mr. Nyaaba-Aweeba Azongo, SMIDO Project consultant, told the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi that the research findings will serve as a policy barometer for election 2012 to mobilize support towards development of the Suame cluster.

He stressed that there was the need to make the Suame Magazine a hub of investment and economic opportunities for the people.

Mr. Azongo said the Suame Magazine was on the brink of collapse and called for effective efforts to revamp the facility, which is the largest in the West Africa sub- region.
