Members of the Ship Owners and Agents Association of Ghana, SOAAG have paid a courtesy call on the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to discuss issues bordering on trade in the country.
The Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah who was present in the meeting described it as fruitful and said the Vice President assured the ship owners and agents of his support considering the important role they play in the maritime trade.
Members of SOAAG said the engagement with the Vice President will address several challenges that they encounter in their trade.
Meanwhile, SOAAG says it is getting itself in readiness of the 1st September paperless directive at the ports of Ghana by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at port efficiency conference in Accra.
To this end, SOAAG’s technical committee members have met to deliberate on the paperless directive and according to them, they are ever ready for the takeoff.
Technical support providers of the customs division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, GCNet assured SOAAG that they have in place a robust IT system which would not affect their integration ahead of the paperless system.
