Nkawkaw, Sept 25, GNA - The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) is constructing a 1.2-billion-cedi branch office at Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West District to enhance its operations in five districts in the Eastern Region.
The five districts are Kwahu South, Afram Plains, Birim North, Atiwa and parts of West Akim where there are no SSNIT offices. At a sod-cutting ceremony at Nkawkaw on Saturday, the consultants of the project, Messrs Akita Architectural Consultants Limited, handed over a two-plot of land to the contractors, Messrs Brush Well Associated Limited.
The Head of Development of SSNIT, Mr Samuel Twum, commended the chief of Obomeng, Nana Obeng Akrofi 11, for releasing the land to SSNIT after a protracted land dispute. He urged the contractors to complete the project within the nine-month period to enhance the operation of SSNIT in the area.
