SSNIT draws up four-year development plan

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has drawn up a four-year development plan with the vision of developing the Trust into a world-class financial institution. Mr Jonathan Cato, Deputy Public Affairs Manager, announced this at a one-day seminar organised by the Trust for employers in the Hohoe, Kpando, Kete-Krachi, Nkwanta, Jasikan and Kadjebi districts of the Volta Region at Hohoe.

The seminar was aimed at fostering and sustaining good relationship between the SSNIT and employers.

Mr Cato said the plan from 2003 to 2007 included prompt service delivery and computerisation of all SSNIT offices, adding that Customer Clearing Desks would be established in all offices for effective and efficient delivery of services.

He said the Trust was doing all it could under its development plan to reduce the average period for the collection of pensions to 21 days. Mrs Maame Akua-Amoah, Koforidua Area Manager appealed to employers to pay their employees contributions to SSNIT promptly.

She warned that the SSNIT would not hesitate to prosecute employers who default in paying contributions deducted, to SSNIT.

Mr George Blege, Hohoe District Manager, announced that more than 104 establishments in the northern sector of the Volta Region owed the Trust 66 million cedis.

He called on the defaulting organisations to pay the amount they owed immediately, to the SSNIT.
