Tema, June 28, GNA -- Sellers of paraphernalia of the Ghana Black Stars in the Tema Metropolis have started recording increases in the sale of the products. This follows Ghana's 2:1 victory over the United States of America on Saturday at the on-going 2010 FIFA World Cup Tournament in South Africa. This was disclosed to the Ghana News Agency on Monday by sellers of the paraphernalia at the Tema Central Business area in Community One. According to them, even though, fans of the Stars did not buy much when the tournament commenced, sales started picking up when Ghana advanced to the

knock-out stages.

They said that Saturday's victory has encouraged more people, both Ghanaians and other nationals, to purchase the Ghana branded products as a way of appreciating the efforts of the Black Stars.

One of the sellers, Mr. Maxwell Owusu, said as at 10:00 hours on Monday , about 10 people have bought some products branded in the national colours .. He said that due to the low price of the plastic wrist-bands, more peopl e preferred buying them as they could easily show their solidarity to the Stars at a cost of 50 Ghana Pesewas. Mr. Owusu said a muffler and wig branded in the national colours, cost f ive Ghana Cedis each. A paraphernalia seller urged Ghanaians to cheer the Stars to victory, an d advised against wild and dangerous jubilation as that could lead to injuries, and even death.

Another seller who only gave her name as Adwoa, said that even though sa les were improving, it has not reached sellers' expectation yet.

She was, however, optimistic that the sellers would reach their targe t at the end of the month, since by that time, people might have received their salaries, and hopefully would be willing to purchase more. The sellers said a T-shirt branded in the national colours, cost between

five and 10 Ghana Cedis, depending on its quality, while a replica jersey

costs between GH¢10 and GH¢50. A brooch and a pair of cuff-links cost three Ghana Cedis each, a cap was

also being sold for between one and eight Ghana cedis. With one Ghana Cedis, a fan could either buy a key-holder, whistle, or beads necklace, branded in the red, gold, black and green colours. 28 June 10
