Wa, June 8, GNA- The Wa-based Christian Mothers Association Sheabutter Production Centre, has been hit by lack of market for large quantities of sheabutter it produced since last November. The Centre has therefore appealed to Mr Ambrose Dery, Upper West Regional Minister, the Ministry of food and Agriculture (MOFA) and non-governmental organisations to help market the produce.
Mrs Celine Bawa the Diocesan President made this known to the Regional Minister, journalists, and officials of MOFA who visited the Centre. She said although the Centre produces a minimum of 280 kilogrammes of sheabutter a week, lack of market was discouraging further production.
Mr Dery, who promised to take up the issue, said it was pathetic to see hardworking women to toil in vain without bringing happiness to their families. Mr Emmanuel Eledi, Regional Director of MOFA said the Ministry would liase with Body Shop in the US to buy the produce and asked them not to be discouraged in increasing production.
