The latest sports utility vehicle (SUV) top of the line model from Ssangyong Motor Company of Korea, the Rexton, has been launched in Accra. The ceremony took place at the head offices of Enyidado Industries Limited, local representatives for Ssangyong Motor Company.
The arrival of the Rexton extends Ssangyong's SUV line-up to meet diverse models enabling the company to meet the diverse requirements of its customers; the entry level of the Korando, the mid-level range Musso and the top-liner, Rexton.
The launching ceremony was conducted by Mr. Salah Kalmoni, managing director of Enyidado Industries, with Mr. Wayne Mackenzie, commercial attach? at the Canadian High Commission, unveiling the Rexton.
Mr. Kalmoni described the Rexton as a third generation SUV with three ranges of Mercedes Benz licensed engines, five-speed manual gear box from Tremec, firm vehicle dynamics, the latest safety technology specifications and improved comfort.
Other officials of Enyidado present at the launch included Mr. Nouhad Kalmoni, director, and Mr. Walid Zoobi, general manager.
Meanwhile, Ssangyong Motor Company has for the first time since 1991 posted a profit.
In his president's statement to the company's 2001 accounts, Mr. Soh Jin-Kwan attributed the turnover in fortunes to the success of the on-going corporate restructuring and the great demand for the Rexton since its launch on the Korean market late last year.
