The St. Michael Car Rentals located at the Kumasi Airport, has been presented with the ‘Best Car Rental of the Year Award – 2014. The award was presented to the company at the Ashanti Tourism Awards recently organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi. The Regional Tourism Award , (ATA) was on the theme, “Harnessing our Tourism Resources for National Development” and aimed at recognising deserving operators and promoting excellence as well as good customer service practices within the tourism industry in the country. The Ashanti Tourism Awards was organised to motivate corporate bodies and individuals to support the development of tourism in the country as well as paying tribute to establishments that provided outstanding and quality service. The privately owned car rental company won the award instituted by GTA for operators delivering car rental services for business, pleasure and exhibiting excellent professionalism, timeliness and great customer services. This award goes to consolidate the company’s position as one of the largest and highly rated car rental firms in Ghana with a fleet of more than twenty vehicles with well trained personnel. St. Michael Car Rental met all the selection criteria which included provision of excellent service, courteous personnel, reliability of fleet, and excellent customer care with good check in & out programmes among others to emerge tops on the list of nominees for this prestigious award. The company was presented with a Certificate of Excellence and a citation in recognition of its achievements and contributions to development and promotion of tourism. St Micheal Car Rentals launched its operations with just five (5) vehicles in 2006 and has worked tirelessly to expand its fleet to 25 vehicles with excellent customer service. The commitment shown by management and other members of staff has been evidenced by the numerous awards the company has received over the years. The Company’s vehicles are well equipped with tourist information materials, as well as first aid boxes. The drivers are not only courteous but knowledgeable and double as tour guides. The CEO of the Company Mr. Micheal Sarpong, in an interview with Graphic said winning the award does not give room to be complacent but it will rather challenge him and his team to sustain the good work for international recognition.
