The Managing Director of Stanbic Bank Ghana, Alhassan Andani has been earmarked by the organizers of the 4th Accra Sports Expo 2012 as one of the key speakers for the four day event.
Andani, one of the leading personalities in the banking sector in Ghana will speak on the topic “Brand Development and Sports Sponsorship In Africa: The Stanbic Experience” .
The event is being put together by RICS Consult Limited, Ghana’s foremost sports business consultancy firm in collaboration with a number of institutions, which will be under the theme: ‘Promoting Africa’s Talents Globally: Role of Sports Business’.
The renowned banker is expected to share his outfit's experience with participants with regards to sports sponsorship.
The four-day Expo will focus on ways of leveraging all facets of sports business as well as principles and practices to develop and globally promote Africa’s Sports Talents.
It will also seek to reach consensus on a designed road map to assist African Nations, Governments, Sports policy-makers, administrators and performers to re-think sports as an emerging industry with all its attendant benefits to grow African economies.
The forum is expected to bring together more than 150 participants from all sports associations, schools, the sports industry, investors and managers, sports medicine, club owners / managers and administrators; sports consultancy services; kit manufacturers; distributors of sports goods and equipment; sports journalists; leisure and hospitality service providers; financial, insurance and legal services; merchandising outlets and many more.
Mr Andani holds a certificate in International Management from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France in 1999; a Masters Degree in Banking and Finance from FINAFRIC, Milan, Italy, 1992 and Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Ghana, Legon, 1984.
His 25 years of experience in banking has seen him work as a Project Officer for SG-SSB in 1987 and rising to become the Regional Project Manager (Upper Region) and Credit Officer between 1990-1993.
Mr Andani later joined Standard Chartered Bank Ghana as an Accounts Relations Manager and moved on to become the Regional Manager for Domestic Corporate (Accra).
In 2000 Mr Andani joined Barclays Bank Ghana Limited as the Executive Director for Corporate Banking and was later appointed as the Deputy Managing Director in 2004.
In July 2005, he was appointed the Director of Non-Presence Countries in the Bank’s African Head Office in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Mr Andani later became the Managing Director of Stanbic Bank Ghana after he had been head-hunted by the Standard Bank Group, thus leading in the transformation of the Bank from a mere small operation with a profit of US$6.0 million and ranked 18th position to the current 5th position, in terms of assets.
Stanbic Bank has over the past years been a leading sponsor in sports events with the Africa Cup of Nations as one of its major achievements.**
