The Small and Medium-scale Enterprise Ghana Awards (SMEGA) in collaboration with Stanbic Bank Ghana and Vodafone Ghana has organized a business growth and development workshop for start-up business owners within the SME space.

The two-day workshop, which hosted about a hundred entrepreneurs, sought to bring start-up businesses to speed with today’s digital world and empower them with the requisite knowledge and skill-set to leverage technological advancements for business growth.

Speaking on the motivation behind the workshop, Head of Enterprise Banking at Stanbic Bank, Pearl Nkrumah, said “Technology has become the lifeline to businesses in contemporary times and it is imperative that we encourage businesses, especially start-ups, to take advantage of this opportunity to grow and promote their businesses. At Stanbic Bank, technology is not only at the core of our operations, but also a key driver in promoting business growth.”

The workshop, which was held under the theme “Positioning your business to attract investment in a new digitalized world”, saw participants receive various practical trainings from facilitators from the Institute of Packaging Ghana, Vodafone Ghana, Imagine8 and Small and Medium-scale Enterprise Ghana Awards (SMEGA).

Head of Products and Propositions, Vodafone Enterprise Business Unit, Edward Aikins, noted that SMEs are the engine of economic growth.

“We find it extremely necessary to drag the SME market along because we trust that together, we will align in the national agenda in making the nation and the economy better. Vodafone is here to support this agenda with our expertise across technology”, he added.

The beneficiaries of the Business Clinic expressed their profound gratitude to the conveners of this great initiative and promised to replicate everything they learnt in their individual businesses.

Stanbic Bank over the years has pioneered numerous projects to facilitate the growth of SMEs through its Enterprise Banking unit as well as its SBIncubator series project. Other partnership projects include the women in entrepreneurship projects with recognized bodies like Lionesses of Africa and the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS).
