Starbow threatens exit

Starbow has threatened to move its business out of Ghana if Government does not address the concerns of domestic airlines.

Newly-appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO), James Eric Antwi, who made this known yesterday on JOY FM, said Starbow could relocate its business to the Ivory Coast. He cited the small market size and low fares as some of the concerns of airlines.

Mr Antwi, a pioneer team of the company in the year 2010, served as the Director Safety and Quality until his appointment.

The licensed aviation engineer with a valid Flight Engineers Licence (DC 10) issued by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, added that Starbow would soon be embarking on a major organizational restructure aimed at increasing and improving customer experience, rewarding recovery planning, simplifying processes, as well as fostering team work within the company.

In September, last year, the airline introduced a new four-tier fare; Accra-Kumasi and Accra-Takoradi. The reduction in fares is in line with its core values of making air transport affordable to the general public.

Starbow continues to fly three times daily from Accra-Kumasi, and twice daily (Monday to Friday) from Accra to Takoradi.
