Stock index continues to rise

Accra, Oct. 18, GNA - The main stock index made another healthy gain in trading on Thursday but volumes that changed hands have continued to be low.

The GSE All-Share Index, the main index, gained 26.07 points at 5,785.13 points and change for the year ended at 15.56 per cent. Number of shares that changed hands ended lower at 401,100 from Wednesday's 1.136 million shares.

On the broader market, there were six price changes, all positive, with banking stocks leading the way.

CAL Bank inched up by 0.0001 GH cedis at 0.3466 GH cedis, Ecobank Ghana Limited gained 0.0244 GH cedis at 1.6500 GH cedis, Standard Chartered Bank was up by 0.5000 GH cedis at 23.0000 cedis and SG-SSB gained 0.0150 GH cedis at 1.0700 GH cedis.

Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited was 0.0010 GH cedis at 1.2020 GH cedis and Fan Milk Limited was up by 0.0380 GH cedis at 2.1500 GH cedis. Market capitalisation ended better at 11,816.35 million GH cedis.
