Stock index down on GCB loss

Accra, Oct. 4, GNA - A loss by Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) on Thursday forced down the main indices of the Ghana Stock Exchange on another quiet day of trading.

The GSE All-Share Index fell by 21.18 points from Wednesday's 5,719.89 points to 5,698.71.

Change for the year also ended down at 13.84 per cent from 14.26 per cent so did the number of shares that changed hands go down at 127,700 shares from 182,600 shares on Wednesday.

On the broader market there were six price changes, one down and five up. GCB lost 0.0502 GH cedis to close trading at 0.9000 GH cedis. The gainers were CAL Bank that went up by 0.0026 GH cedis at 0.3451 GH cedis; Ecobank Ghana gained 0.0002 GH cedis at 1.6103 GH cedis; Enterprise Insurance Company inched up by 0.0001 GH cedis at 1.2003 GH cedis; SG-SSB made 0.0001 GH cedis at 1.0521 GH cedis and Unilever was better by 0.0001 GH cedis at 2.0501 GH cedis.

Market capitalisation also ended lower at 11,763.96 million GH cedis from 11,776.80 GH million cedis.
