Some final year students of Adjena Senior High school in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region, have been compelled to write on-going West African Secondary School Certificate Exams (WASSCE) barefooted to prevent examination malpractices.
According to authorities of the school, students over the years have been engaging in exams malpractices and “this is the only way to fight the canker.”
Speaking to the Atinka News, the Headmistress of the school, Madam Joyce Okyere said the decision taken by school authorities is to ensure that students abide by regulations governing the examination.
She explained that the “radical measure” will prevent students from hiding ‘foreign materials’ in their shoes and sandals.
Madam Okyere added that the decision will not affect students but will rather encourage them to study hard to come out successfully.
On some challenges, Madam Joyce Okyere indicated that lack of infrastructure is a major problem confronting the school and therefore appealed to the government to as a matter of urgency, support the school by providing needed infrastructure to enable quality education delivery.
