Susu Company holds workshop for customers

Techiman (B/A), July 17, GNA - Planwell, a Susu company, realised more than 750 million cedis within eight months of operations in the Techiman District.

Mr. Abubakar Mohammed Yaki, District Manager of the company, said this on Wednesday at a workshop for 3,000 customers at the Agyeiwaa Hotel, Techiman.


He said the company, which operated as an NGO, had given out 350 million cedis as loans to 150 customers, mainly market women, petty traders, farmers and small business groups.


The loans, ranging from one million cedis to 10 million cedis, are payable within six months.


Mr. Yaki urged the customers to continue to patronise the company to qualify for loans to expand their businesses.


Mr. Christopher Kontoh, Executive Director, said since the company was operating as an NGO, it would grant micro-credit facilities to enable small businesses to expand and also offer free consultancy services to its customers.

He said the company, which started operations this year, had established a Computer Training Centre at Old Tafo in Kumasi for its customers.


There are plans to open a similar centre at Techiman to assist customers to become computer literate.


The Executive Director urged the customers to develop the habit of saving to enable the company to have confidence in granting them loans. Mr. Joe Donkor, a Consultant of Rohi Services in Kumasi, speaking on "Managing your business," explained that the use of marketing strategies in the promotion of businesses.


He asked the customers to use loans granted them judiciously.
