TDC completes, sells 50 per cent houses

Tema, Dec. 27, GNA - The Tema Development Corporation (TDC), despite stiff competition in the Real Estate business, completed and sold out 50 percent of houses earmarked for 2005. Announcing this at a staff get-together at Tema on Monday, the Managing Director, Ms Elizabeth Mansa Banson said works on the community 25 projects such as drains, culverts, water and electricity have been completed on schedule, while the road networks is expected to be completed by the end of next year.

She said the Tema town centre project was steadily on course; however the problem of relocation of old underground cables in the Meridian hotel area, delayed the programme.

On the labour front, Ms Banson said relations between management and staff were cordial as plans were advanced to negotiate for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, while efforts were also being made for workers to upgrade their knowledge.

As part of the TDC's social responsibility, the MD said the corporation has extended assistance to several institutions as well as the Kpone and Tema traditional elders.

In 2006, the corporation projects to complete its head office complex, 25 serviced plots, 25 partial serviced plots among other projects. She impressed on the workers to market the plots through their personal contacts with relations and associations and entreated them to work harder in the ensuing year.

Forty employees received awards for long service, while four retirees were also rewarded with various items. Items received included deep freezers, television sets, sewing-machines wall clocks, standing fans among others.
