The Trades Union Congress says it does not recognize the 9,000 cedi daily minimum wage announced by government yesterday, because it is not a figure arrived at by the tripartite committee.
Negotiations between government, the employers association and the TUC were inconclusive and a communiqu? was issued indicating that the consultations will continue.
But barely an hour after the meeting, the Finance Minister announced a new minimum wage after explaining that the tripartite negotiations failed to deliver a deal.
The TUC Secretary General Kwasi Adu Amankwa says the labor union expects government to respect the communiqu? issued for further negotiations.
He told JOY News that he was surprised by government’s announcement.
According to Mr. Adu Amankwa the TUC still stands by the proposed 10,000 cedis and expects government to resume negotiations next week.
