The Chief Executive Officer of Reroy Cables Limited, Mrs. Kate Quartey – Papafio has appealed to the government to take a second look at indigenous manufacturers especially those within the cable industry and provide the necessary boost that would create more opportunities for the country. The greatest challenge for the industry according to her is the importation of cheap electrical cable products which affects the growth of the local cable industry.

“If we as a country want to grow our own base of investment capital that would really transform us from a country that is dependent on foreign investment to one that is self-sufficient then the right thing for the government to do is to focus attention on how best indigenous manufacturers could be assisted in the face of unfair competitions”, explained Mrs. Quartey-Papafio. She noted that the continuous silence and inaction over these known challenges will eventually kill the local industries and put Ghanaians out of work. Mrs. Kate Quartey-Papafio suggested that since the current government believes in investing in Ghanaians, it could adopt a policy of using Ghanaian made products in all projects that it will embark upon. “Government can encourage us the local manufacturers by using our products in all its projects since the quality of our products can match any other products from anywhere. This will boost growth of our economy and create further opportunities for us as a country. I think this is the right way to go in this time of global recession”, stated Reroy CEO.

Reroy Cables Limited produces electrical cables and accessories predominantly for the international (export) market and have significant domestic market presence as well. At the moment, the company is focused on increasing its export market share while it strengthens its position as a leading sub-regional market leader.

Reroy has the capacity to manufacture and supply the full range of products in the electrical cables industry namely Aluminium conductors, Aerial Bundles, Power cables, Telephone cables and House wiring cables. Others are Conduit cables, Armoured cables, Flexible cables and telecommunication cables of all sizes among host of others.
