Accra, Nov. 17, GNA - MTN Ghana subscribers in the Central and Western region have the opportunity to access MTN 3.5G technology, a statement issued in Accra on Tuesday said.

The statement signed by Ms Mawuena Dumor, Corporate Service Executive of MTN Ghana, said the launch of MTN 3.5G in the two regions would enable MTN subscribers there to enjoy, in addition to voice services, high speed internet access at speeds significantly faster than dial-up or GPRS connections, video calling and other multimedia services.

The introduction of the technology followed a premier commercial launch in Accra, Tema and Kumasi early in the year.

"MTN's ultramodern 3.5G technology complements its existing 2G network to positively impact every aspect of the lives of its valued customers," the statement said.

It said MTN would continue to offer its subscribers the flexibility to access a variety of services on its 3.5G network as it continued to roll the technology out nationwide in the coming months.

The statement quoted Mr. George Andah, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana, as saying that MTN was pleased with the significant progress it had made in building an extensive 3.5G network so far and making it available to a large number of the estimated seven million customers in Accra, Tema, Kumasi and now Takoradi and Cape Coast.

He noted that the products and services MTN rolled out were driven by the most superior and robust insights from constant research in order to enrich the lives of their subscribers and for the Ghanaian market at large.

The statement said to encourage the use of data and internet services on MTN's 3.5G technology, MTN was also offering the 3G bundle to its customers.

"This offer is to make 3.5G devices affordable and to make the service attractive to MTN customers. This will give them the incentive to use the data, internet, and other 3.5G services, which have been specifically tailored to suit their needs and pockets. This offer will give subscribers a 100 per cent bonus on their data usage for six months," it said.

It said the introduction of the 3.5G service fulfilled MTN's pledge to bring world class telecommunication services to its subscribers and the general public, and gave the assurance that MTN would continue to roll out more innovative services onto the market as promised.
