MTN awards application winner

Mobile Telecommunication Network,MTN has presented award to individuals who emerge as winners during Apps competition with the realization that there is an increase in the number of smart phones, devices and tablet users in Ghana mostly on the MTN network coupled with an increasing quest for data enabled services,

MTN has been able to harness local talent in applications development and also excited about the strong affinity built with the developing community.

Chief Executive officer of MTN,Mr. Serame Taukobong said this at the Apps challenge Awards Night ceremony held in Accra with 10 contestant emerging as winner.

Winners include , winner created Oware 3D, Striker Kobla Nyomi ,he is taken home Samsung Galaxy s4, fully paid trip to Apps World Conference and GHC 10,000, Runner up created Ananse fables, Wahid Farhat, took home Samsung Galaxy s4 and GHC 10,000, 2nd runner up is Festus Nwobodo, he created Ghost and took home GHC 10,000 and Samsung Galaxy s4, 4th position Created Snap Recharge Tessu Ephraim< GHC 10,000 and Samsung Galaxy s4, 5th position created OssikiApp, Divine Pulplampu, he took home GHC 10,000 and Samsung Galaxy, 6th position created Ghana city Guide, Rinkart Asibey he took home MTN hampers including the four winners.

He said over 55 Apps were received from individual and group developers, which covered various subject matter including games, entertainment, cooking, Health, Education, Sports and Social Media apps.

“MTN had discussion with winners to feature their Apps on the MTN Ghana Apps store to be unveiled on the MTNplay platform. He disclosed.”

Mr. . Serame said to enhance customer experience on the Network,MTN has put in place the necessary infrastructure to support effective service delivery. Since the enrollment of 42 mbps technology on their network for subscribers begun from Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

He said the 42 Mbps (megabits per second) is an enhanced form of data connectivity on the 3G platform which gives the customer reliable network, extended capacity where more people can browse at the same time without congestion and better user experience.

He congratulate winners for their innovation and commitment to contributing t0 the telecommunications industry in Ghana.

Head of Kofi Ann ICT center, Mrs. Dorothy Gordon said Ghana is striving to become upper meddle income therefore there is the need to grow more in developmental activities in acquiring achievement.

Africa is working on huge demographic in making application development which will solve problems, since there is transformation in market with which SMS becomes worry to citizenry.

She average Ghanaians do not use smart phones but ones which has no data therefore there is the need to as nation develop Apps which create activities like language translation and many other.
