The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Robert Ahomka Lindsey has reiterated the government’s resolve to support the retail sector by making the environment conducive for retail business to thrive.

He said this will help retailers to produce more and create jobs for the youth in the country. This he said can be achieved when the environment is well protected.

According to him if the environment is well protected the country can have enough access to produce quality goods and services.

The Minister made the remark at the opening ceremony of the Achimota branch of Melcom Shop.

, The opening of Melcom branch here today makes me happy because we as a nation is still continuing improving on our environment in which we shop,

Mr. Ahomka Lindsey added that there is the need to replicate this retail outlet in every single part of our country including our own market we shop in such that shoppers experiences can be improve.

The deputy minister therefore advised retailers to use their platform in making the environment more nourishing and enjoyable for Ghanaian shoppers. According to him when the environment is well kept you need both producer and retail to make business more lucrative.

Ahomka Lindsey encouraged all entrepreneurs to improve the environment in which products are sold.

On his part Director of communications Melcom Group of companies, Godwin Avenorgbo said the aim of the company is to satisfy customer’s desire for convenience and variety, since safety and security have become even more paramount in the overall attitude for doing business in Ghana.

According to him Melcom number one priority is to create more jobs and upgrade the skills of Ghanaians to take up commanding heights of the company.

‘Since we are promoting made in Ghana goods in the country and the fact that our company is own by foreigners we are therefore happy to say that out of the 38 Melcom brand Managers 34 are Ghanaians and we assures you that by February next year 2018, Melcom will only have one expatriate branch Manager. He added.

Mr. Avenorgbo assures that Achimota Melcom will become one of the principal centers for made in Ghana promotions.

The edifice he said has set new standards for ensuring a safe and secure environment for all business premises.

The building is a four storey reinforced concrete structure with a single level basement parking lot .According to him report states that the reinforcements were installed in accordance with the structural design.

The strength of the concrete mix was in compliance with specific designs strength.

It is therefore assured that this building has been duly constructed as per the approved structural designs. He added.
