Tullow Ghana Limited has recognised 30 indigenous suppliers for supporting the company's local content delivery since 2009.

Mobicrane Limited was awarded as the longest-serving indigenous supplier.

Five of the indigenous suppliers were awarded as the most distinguished local content suppliers for their commitment to quality service delivery.

They are; Consolidated Shipping Agencies Limited, Zeal Environmental Technologies Limited, Orsam Oil and Gas Limited, Oil Field Machine Shop Limited, and Rezultz Advertising.

The companies were presented with certificates and plaques for their unreserved services to the company.

Mr Kweku Awotwi, the Managing Director of Tullow Ghana said the event was to inspire the companies and drive the pursuit and execution of excellent service delivery and good business practice.

The company's commitment was to deliver local content and support indigenous companies to maximise value across the oil and gas sector for long-term growth.

"Tullow is deliberate about creating opportunities for local businesses in sanitation, transport and logistics, security, communications and marine gas oil supply", he added.

Between 2010 and 2018, $10.66 billion out of the total of $ 16.4 billion worth of contracts was awarded to indigenous and joint venture companies with indigenous equity participation.

Also 80 per cent of Tullow's contract for this year was awarded to local businesses.

Mr Awotwi said the company would continue to identify scopes of work than can be transitioned to indigenous companies to deepen the supplier development initiatives and achieve local content targets for economic development and growth.

He said since the discovery of the Jubilee Fields and the TEN fields, Tullow Ghana had focused on additional value creation by driving supplier development initiatives.

However, since 2013, 2,800 local businesses were engaged and educated on Tullow's contracting processes and how to participate in the company's business.

Mr Ben Asante, the Director in charge of Petroleum at the Ministry of Energy commended Tullow for the recognition, urging the companies to continue to give out their best to sustain the gains of their operations.

He assured the companies of government’s commitment and support in the discharge of their work.
