UBA launches MasterCard platinum card

UBA Ghana, a subsidiary of the UBA Group has introduced the Mastercard platinum card to serve their affluent clients and sophisticate its digital banking.

The launch was held yesterday in Accra at the Movenpick hotel.

The bank states that it has introduced Mastercard platinum card to its well-off clients and customers who desire to do electronic transactions more efficiently without having to worry about security.

The platinum card is targeted at top business executives, CEOs and high income earners who are constantly on official travels.

Holders of the Mastercard platinum card will have the luxury of booking flights, reserving hotels and paying for bills all at discounted rates. This has been made possible by UBA's strategic partnership with key retail agents across Europe, Asia, America and other continent.

Soni Anwal, Deputy Managing Director of UBA, speaking at the event, maintained that aside creating convenience for customers, the introduction of Mastercard platinum card onto the market is the bank's way of supporting the government in its attempt to make the Ghanaian economy cashless.

He also mentioned that the bank has met the minimum requirement as specified by the Bank of Ghana and also has audited its accounts as of 30th September 2018, however they are waiting to straighten a few things before sending it to BoG for final approval.

Kistina Dadzie, Head of Digital Banking, UBA highlighted on the security features of Mastercard platinum card. She stated that the card is 3D enabled, has chip and pin, stuck with two factor authentication and there is a quarterly service upgrade to avoid fraudulent use of the card. This she said will ensure that customers transactions are secured.

She also added that due to the Christmas festivities 500 lucky high networked individuals and customers of the bank will have access to the MasterCard platinum card free of charge.

The launch was attended by valued customers and key stockholders of the bank. UBA has since 2014 been in the forefront of technological advancement in the Ghanaian banking sector. It is known as the first bank to introduce SMS banking into the country and can boast of one of the best banking mobile app in the industry.
