United Kingdom (UK) imports from Ghana over the past seven months amounted to 84 million pounds sterling, Mr. Karvin Lyunch, first commercial secretary of the British High Commission said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a meeting with members of the Sekondi-Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as part of his two-day visit to the metropolis, Mr. Lyunch said Ghana's export to the UK within the same period is about 80 million pounds sterling.
Mr. Lyunch said UK intends to use Ghana as a strategic market for its commodities, adding that trade between the two countries is expected to increase because Ghana's inflation rate has reduced and interest rate is likely to reduce as well.
Mr. Lyunch said the UK government is developing a business assistance fund to assist small- scale industries in the country.
