The Micro Finance and Small Loan Centre (MASLOC) has purchased 15 TVS Motor Kings for distribution to young people in the Upper West Region for transport (trotro) business.
The motor tricycles would be used as a pilot urban transport project to help enhance the movement of people, goods and services.
The motor tricycles can carry three to four passengers depending on their sizes and it is roofed to protect passengers from rain and the sun.
Mrs. Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, the Chief Executive of MASLOC said the motor tricycles were acquired under MASLOC’s Special Project at the cost of GH¢17,400.00 each.
She said beneficiaries would be required to make a commitment payment of GH¢1,500.00 and pay a monthly installment fee of GH¢484.00 until the debt is defrayed.
The MASLOC Chief Executive said so far 35 and 85 of the tricycles had been distributed to young people in the Upper East and Northern Regions respectively, and gave the assurance that the number would be increased in Upper West Region depending on the patronage.
Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, the Upper West Regional Minister, thanked MASLOC for the intervention and said it would help create jobs for young people in the area.
He advised them to ensure regular maintenance of the motor tricycles and avoid overloading to help prolong its lifespan.
He urged beneficiaries to work hard to meet the loan obligations to enable MASLOG to bring in more for others to benefit.
