Ultimate winner of GCB promo takes home GH¢300,000

The final draw of the Ghana Commercial Bank's (GCB) promotion dubbed 'GCB Big Money Promo' has been held in Accra -- with Owusua Mayfair, a customer at the Tantra Hill branch, emerging as the ultimate winner with a cash prize of GH¢300,000.

Other winners of the last draw included Appiah Gladys of the Kade Branch in the Eastern Region, who took home a brand new 5KVA Generator set; Acheampong Bernard of the Dormaa Ahenkro Branch in the Brong Ahafo Region, who won a Samsung Tablet; and Gidisu Wisdom from Hohoe in the Volta Region, also taking home a 1KV Generator.

The promotion lasted for six months and rewarded several customers from different branches who also emerged as winners in the draws, which were held at the end of each month within the period.

Some items that were awarded aside from the cash prizes included generators, smartphones and tablets.

According to Doris Wunu, Head of Consumer Banking, the initiative was aimed at inculcating the habit of saving into customers, especially for Christmas, and also to give them presents for Christmas.

In addition to this, Ms. Wunu disclosed that the bank has rolled-out a product for the yuletide that will allow all customers to shop in some particular stores at discounted prices, and pay later in installments.

“Christmas is early at GCB and we want everybody to celebrate it well, and so we will from 1st December allow customers to shop for items they want from selected partners at up to 25% discount and GCB will pay for it. Our customer will pay back later in installments,” Ms. Wunu said.

The 'GCB Big Money Promo' required customers and potential customers to -- from May 2015 to October -- save and maintain a balance of GH¢500 or more throughout the promo period to qualify for the monthly draws.
