Unilever donates to Ghana@50

Accra, Jan. 29, GNA - Unilever Ghana Limited on Monday donated a cheque for three billion cedis to the Ghana@50 Secretariat through the Minister of Health, Major Courage Quashigah (rtd).

Unilever with joint contributions from Benso Oil and Twifo Oil Plantations also donated two Tata Ambulances and 1,000 cartons of Omo worth millions of cedis to the Ministry of Health. Mr Charles Cofie, Chief Executive Officer, Unilever Ghana, said the donations formed part of the Company's social responsibility to the people of Ghana towards the 50th anniversary celebration. Mr Cofie said plans were underway by the Company to unveil six potable water projects in some communities in the Upper East, Upper West and Northern Regions next month.

He said the spate of road accidents in the country was alarming and that needed a response from all stakeholders to help to protect lives and properties.

Major Quashigah urged the Police to help to check accidents on the roads and called on other companies and organisations to emulate Unilever.

The two Tata Ambulances would be stationed on the Accra-Tema Motorway and the Cape Coast - Takoradi highways, respectively. The 1,000 cartons of Omo would be distributed to 10 hospitals in the country including the Accra and Pantang Psychiatric Hospitals; Ridge and La Hospitals; the Korle-Bu, Mamprobi, Ussher, Maamobi, Kaneshie and Adabraka Polyclinics.
