Tema, April 2, GNA - Mr Charles Cofie, Managing Director (MD) of Unilever Ghana Limited, on Thursday launched the company's Community School Partnership Project (CSPP), with a call on Ghanaians to take little but positive and inspiring actions in their various communities. He said "the rippling effect of such a chain of little positive actions, would in the end, result in the realisation of the big dreams and vision Ghanaians cherished as individuals, families, communities and as a nation".
The project, an initiative of five Junior Managers (management trainees) of the company, formed part of Unilever's corporate responsibility, and was launched at the Anglican Junior High School at Tema New Town (Manhean).
The CSPP is a social mission campaign, focusing on the adoption of a deprived public school within the Tema Metropolis, to equip and empower pupils of the selected school, with knowledge on social and personal development and health issues. Mr Cofie commended the young managers for their vision and foresight, and hoped "this little step they have taken to help better the lot of pupils of the school, would impact positively on their lives". Mr Kwesi Hutchful, Metropolitan Director of Education lauded Unilever for the partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES) to help improve the lives of the children.
He urged other corporate bodies and non-governmental organisations to initiate similar projects to better the lot of the future leaders of this nation.
Nii Adjei Kraku II, Tema Mantse, who graced the occasion, advised the children to take the programme seriously to enable them to have a bright future.
Ms Bernice Natue, Corporate Relations Manager of Unilever, said the programme would be run with support from the Corporate Relations Department of the company, and in collaboration with the GES.
