University of Ghana showcases new technologie

To strengthen cooperation with the private sector, civil society and public sector research users, the university of Ghana has showcased latest technologies developed by the university’s faculty and students.

Speaking at the event in Accra, Prof Richard Boateng who is at the Department of Operations and Management Information Systems at the University of Ghana Business School told the media its been 40yrs since the university started conducting series of research into these technologies yet they have not been able to showcase it until now.

Some of the technologies showcased include publications of UG faculty, Irrigated Sawah Technology, Electroporcelain Insulators, Edible Picture Cake, oyster mushroom biscuits, quick shuttle mobile app, a record digitization and preservation system.

He said these technologies which have now been showcased to the public is a massive boost to the country because it will enhance productivity, decrease unemployment rate and high levels of dependency ratio in Ghana, making farming easier and many more.

Prof Richard Boateng explained that quick shuttle mobile app enables one to transfer money from his mobile money account or bank account to someone in another country within the shortest possible time.

He said the irrigated sawah technology is also a plus to farming because one can now do rice farming on bare land and cultivate it without any problems.

Prince Owusu Attakora, a student who study’s Animal Science at the university of Ghana also added that the Oyster Mushroom Biscuits is highly nutritious and it’s just like the normal mushroom from the farms.

He said one unique thing about the oyster mushroom is that one can actually develop a mushroom in his house by just pouring some amount of water on the oyster compost and within 48hrs mushrooms will appear from the compost.

An engineering student, Gideon Dengo on his part appealed to the president elect and the incoming government to invest massively into student’s research and technologies because it will ease the burdens of the government citing himself as an example as to why he is able to produce shoes and clothing from waste products by means of recycling.
